Classes and Layers

These two concepts are the main organizing concepts for your information. Some people think these concepts are interchangeable, this is wrong. Layers are an organizing concept that allows you to group things together in a particular elevation.  Layers not used to find control of information. Classes control visibility and graphic style of objects, allowing fine control over your information.

Active Layer

The layer that you are currently working on is called the Active Layer.  The active layer is shown on the layer button, located on the data display bar.

Layer Options

Layer options control how you see things on other layers. You can hide all the other layers, see them grey, see them but not snap to them, and see the other layers and be able to snap or modify them.
