Layers and Classes – Layers are where things are, classes are what things are. From a drawing point of view this means that you should use layers to group things together and use classes for types of objects. I like to think of the classes as being elements of the building.

I have 3 simple rules for layers and 3 simple rules for classes. These help me to keep my layers and classes to a minimum.
