Simplifying Polygons in Vectorworks

With so many vertices the polygon from inner boundary works very slowly because it has so much to calculate. It would be nice if Vectorworks had a simplify polygon command. There is a simplify 3-D polygon but this does not have an effect on 2-D polys.

I found a command at Vectordepot (http://www.vectordepot.com/older_plug-ins.html) that will simplify polygons. The command comes in the text file, which you have to download and then added into a vectorscript palette. There is no programming required, all you have to do is copy and paste text file.

Visit the web site (http://www.vectordepot.com/older_plug-ins.html).
Locate the plug-in called Simplify Polys.
Click on the plug-in, and the website, and the zip file will start downloading. If you are asked if you want to save or open this file, choose Open.
Locate this text file on your computer. Normally this text file will be in your downloads folder.
Open text file.
Select all the contents of the text file.
You can go to edit on the menu bar, and choose copy, or you can use the keyboard shortcut (control+C, or command+C).

Go back to Vectorworks.
Go to the Resource Browser.
Click on the utility menu to create a new resource.
Create a new vectorscript… resource.

The vector script has to be stored on a palette, so choose an existing palette, or creating new one.

Name your new vector script, and click on the OK button.

Paste your text file, the one you downloaded from the Internet.
Click on the OK button.

Select a polygon in the drawing.

Go to your script palette.
Double-click on your simplify poly script.
Enter a distance for simplification, around about 2 feet (600 mm).

The polygon will be simplified, making it easier to work with, and easier for Vectorworks to calculate.
