Title Block Borders and Drawing Management

Title blocks have undergone a major overhaul since Vectorworks 2018. The old Sheet Border tool has been completely replaced with a new Title Block Border tool and Drawing Issue command. The title blocks have been changed to use object styles, their layout is easier to change and customize, adding revisions and creating issues have been updated, and a new document transmittal facility has been added.

Placing a Title Block Border

The new Title Block Border tool is in the Dims/Notes tool set. The icon looks the same as the old Sheet Border tool. Don’t confuse these tools; they are very different. The new tool has a different workflow than the old tool. If you try to use the new tool in the same way that you used the old tool, you will find it difficult. The new tool uses an Object Style to control the graphic style of the title block.

    1. if you add the title block style to your template file, you will have it on all new jobs. the other way is to add the title block style to your library file and add that to your favourites on the Resource Manager.

  1. Hi Jonathan,
Can you tell me what the Activate Title Block check box is doing in 2021? I was hoping that it would allow me to control which sheets are picked up by the Issue and revision logs. However, it appears to do nothing at all. I watched your video on issuing Title blocks but and it seems to be doing something with sheets but in my 2021 version, the layout of the Title block manager is very different from 2018 in the video. Is there a way of controlling which sheets appear in the issue and revision logs? Thanks, Dermot

    1. The activate Title Block is often used to pick up the active sheet layers for the drawing list. If the title block is active, the title block should appear in the drawing list, if not, it shouldn’t. For revisions and issues, you have to use the Select Sheets to Use… button. Select the Sheets you want to use then save the list drawings.

  2. I can choose my Title Block Borders but I can’t make them change the format of all at once like it used to be. When I edit one it stays different than the rest.
