Interactive Workshops May 2019 – Title Blocks and Drawing Issues

Drawings need title blocks. In this session, we looked at the Title Block tool in Vectorworks. We covered step by step how to work with both a title border and a title block. Title blocks in Vectorworks now use object styles, similar to doors and windows. We modified a standard Vectorworks title block into our own customized title block that we could reuse. It’s easier to modify a title block than to create one, and it’s easier to start off with more than you need, rather than with less. We used the Reshape tool to stretch the title block to fit our page size, dragged and dropped a logo into the title block layout, and changed the look of the project name. We covered how to use the Title Block Manager. We filled in the project, sheet, revision, and issue data; deleted unneeded fields; and added a drawing stamp that read: “Not for construction” across the drawing sheet. Maybe your project is spread out over a few files—we showed how to select only the active file or to include other open files in an issue or revision set of our drawings. We demonstrated how to link text in your title block layout to data values in your project, as well as how to make revision and issue listings go down—not up—the drawing sheet.
