Landmark_SIG_033 Special Interest Group August 2013

This session also looked at the Vectorworks plant database. It seems strange to me that in the same month both sessions of 30 Landmark Special Interest Group wanted to look at the plant database. There is obviously a challenge with the concept of the plant database in relation to plants. These sessions have now clarified the relationship between the Vectorworks plant database and a Vectorworks plant in a file.

Topics covered:

  • opening the Vectorworks plants database
  • feedback from a user that has substantially edited the plant database to create presentation pages from the plant database
  • feedback from a user that places plant images on the drawings
  • using the plants database to locate plant images on the Internet
  • copying the found plant images into the Vectorworks plants database
  • explaining the concept of the Vectorworks plant database and how that relates to a plant in the Vectorworks file
  • looking for plants in the Vectorworks plant database to create a plant list
  •  exporting plant information to a plant list
  • getting information from the plant list onto a Vectorworks plant
  • adding another field to Vectorworks plant record
  • should you store the information on the Vectorworks plant object or in the Vectorworks plant database
  • other ways of looking at the Vectorworks plant database
  • editing a worksheet to add new columns
  •  using a worksheet to update plant information on your Vectorworks plants
