Referencing PDF Files. As with image files, PDF files can be drag-and-drop onto a Vectorworks drawing, or you can use the Import PDF… command. In either case when you import a PDF file, you have the choice of whether to import the file directly or whether to reference the file.

If you are certain that the PDF will not be updated you can import the file directly. But if you are working with the structural engineer for example, the drawings might get updated due to unforeseen circumstances. So for importing consultants drawings, it is better to use referencing for importing PDF files.
