3D Modeling Special Interest Group – November 2019
In this session, we used various methods to model spiral shapes, experimented a bit with Subdivision modeling, and started a model of a wardrobe built from water pipes.

In this session, we constructed a bathtub using Subdivision Modeling and built a cabinet, which we then exploded and turned into a hybrid symbol so that we could add detail and vary the level of detail shown in a drawing.
In this session, we talked about getting organized in Vectorworks, using classes, the annotation window, the Data Tag tool and IFC data records to your advantage…. Every year we look at the new features of Vectorworks. There are always some really positive features And also some features that have marginal benefits. In these sessions we like to look at the most productive or the most beneficial features.
In this session, we covered how setting up site modifiers on the design layer with the nearest elevation can make calculating elevations easier, demonstrated resolving site modifier conflicts, showed how to use multiple view panes to make using Vectorworks easier, went over how to save the setup for your multiple…
In this session, we covered some challenges with landscape worksheets, including working with plant images, a workaround for selecting all of your plants with one command, selecting individual plants when the Summarize Items setting is on in your worksheet, and setting up a separate design layer for details.
In this session, we wanted to cover some wall topics in greater detail, such as using walls to Auto-Bound slabs, bounding a slab component horizontally by a wall part (e.g., inner face of wall), using stories to have additional bottom-bounding and top-bounding options for wall components.
There are only two wall creation tools, but there are a lot of techniques for dealing with walls. In this workshop, we look at some of these techniques for dealing with and controlling walls. You can also find information about walls on the knowledgebase…
In this session, we talked about upgrading from one year to the next, discussed the importance of saving your favorite resources to a single library folder or template file, and demonstrated how to place custom tools in a palette for quick access….
