This is a Document Preference that tells Vectorworks to place all dimensions into the Dimensions class. This is OK as long as you don’t want to have dimensions for different drawings on the design layer. In that case, turn this off and have different classes for various viewports.

  1. Sorry . . . this is a bit confusing to me. I don’t understand your comment “. . . as long as you don’t want to have dimensions for different drawings on the design layer.” Can you give me an example??
    Thanks

  2. I’m with Richard… it would be good to hear an example of having dimensions for different drawings on the design layer. I think I know what you mean but clarification would be great Jonathan. Thanks! -Neil

    1. one of the areas where I have different dimensions on the same design layer would be demolition drawings, Electrical drawings, proposed dimensions, and maybe even foundation dimensions. On a small project all of these dimensions might be on the same design layer. Assigning these dimensions the different classes would allow me to have the dimensions on different view ports.
