Can I Create a Viewport From a Camera?
You can easily create a viewport from a camera, it is one of the easiest ways to set up perspective viewports.
Place a camera. In the drawing and set it to the correct view.

- Go to the menu bar.
- Choose View > Create view port...
- Fill in the settings you need for your viewport.
- Make sure you put your viewport on the correct sheet layer.
- You can correct the scale later.
- Set the rendering type that you want.
- Click on the OK button.
- Now you should have your viewport on the sheet layer.
- Move the viewport to the correct location, and if you want to you can update the viewport.
But you don’t have to update the viewport to edit it.
Once you have placed your viewport on a sheet layer you can edit the camera view. When you edit the camera, the viewport will update. But, you have to edit the camera in the correct Do not go back to the original design layer, you will find the camera is no longer there. The camera is now part of the viewport.
To edit the camera, right-click on the viewport, and choose Edit Camera.
You will get a dialog box with some useful hints. Once you’ve read the sentence and you understand what they’re talking about you should choose the option to not show this again.
Vectorworks will return you to your original design life and I will select the camera for you. The camera settings will appear in the Object Info Palette.

The fine tune the camera view dialog box allows you to change the camera view using a series of sliders. Change the camera view using the sliders until you’re happy with the new view.
When you are satisfied, click on the OK button.
To return to the viewport, click, but some at the top right hand corner, the Return to Viewport button.
The viewport has now been updated to reflect the new camera position.
