One of the new techniques in Vectorworks is Detail Viewport. I have been waiting for this technique for a while, and I think this will subsctantially change the way users structure their drawings in Vectorworks.
During a recent webinar, I used a worksheet to edit the names and numbers on my viewports.
Creating Viewports. To present your work to other people, it will be better to create viewports and sheet layers showing the same view at different times of the day and at different times of the year.
BIM stands for Building Information Model. However, this is only part of its meaning. The advantages of BIM are that it that you can visualize the design earlier, it is faster to create drawings, changes to one area can automatically update on the drawings, and some objects can be linked…
Adding Fenestration. When you have checked the paper model and are happy with it, add the windows and doors to the model in Vectorworks. Then all you have to do is update all the viewports.
Roof Drawings. It is not possible to use section viewports to create the viewport of each of the roof planes. What you require is an angle where you look square onto the roof plane. To achieve this you have to set the applicable working planes correctly.
Design Layer Section Indicator. If you create the section viewports from a design layer, Vectorworks places the viewport indicators on the design layer. You can change the indicator from the design layer to a key plan viewport.
Eventually, you get to the point where the sheet layer is filled up and you need to create a new sheet layer.
