Workgroup Referencing a powerful technique where you link one VectorWorks file to another. Why would you want to do this?
In Vectorworks version 12 and before, you manage referencing from the Workgroup Reference command.
You can now manage referencing from the Navigation palette with Vectorworks 2008 and above.

An easy way to get started with referencing is to reference image files. You would do this if you wanted to carry on working with the project, but have somebody else update the image file.
A better way to set up referencing in Vectorworks 2008 and above, is to use the Design Layer Viewport. This allows you to reference information from other files, and move it to suit the current design layer.
