Tool Bar Shortcuts  and Quick Preferences – While we are talking about the Tool bar, there are keyboard shortcuts, hot keys really, to change you mode bar options.

The U, I O and P keys on the keyboard will change the options on the mode bar. There are Vectorworks preferences you can add to the Tool bar as well.
