cadmovie198 – Solar Study Part 4
Sending the 3D objects to sit on the surface of the site model.
Sending the 3D objects to sit on the surface of the site model.
We need to convert objects from 2D shapes to something in 3D that will allow us to use them. If you have VectorWorks Architect or Designer, you can use spaces, otherwise you can use extrusions. Spaces have an advantage when we want to send them to the site model.
You can draw the building using the standard VectorWorks techniques for drawing walls, adding doors and windows and creating roofs, but if you are at an early stage of the project you could use spaces for the project to get a very fast result.
Creating the Site model. The important difference with solar studies is you need a larger area of site model. Normally when you get a site survey, you only get the site you are working on. For a solar study you need the surrounding area as well because you want to…
This topic will teach you how to analyse the visual effects of project on a site. If you are building on a sensitive site you might need to know which parts of the site are visually effected by your project. You might need to prove that your project can’t be…
What I don’t like about the Zone of Visual Influence command is that it’s limited to Landmark and Designer, and that temporary nature of it. How can you make this into a viewport, or export it some way to show other people.
Setting up the Landmark Zone of Visual Influence.
We are going to use a command to convert all the polygons to 3D loci. From there we can make the site model. As I write the notes of this, I notice that sometimes this command does not work all the time, but I have a solution.
Converting imported contours to ploygons.
We want a quick way to analyse the site model. Ideally we should import a file from a surveyor that has all the contours.
