• Cutting a Roof Hole with Vectorworks

    There are many times where the standard roof needs to be edited. For example, you need to create a hole for the  flue, or another roof butts into a roof. When you understand the concept, it is very easy to cut a hole in a Vectorworks roof or roof face.

    Roof Drawings. It is not possible to use section viewports to create the viewport of each of the roof planes. What you require is an angle where you look square onto the roof plane. To achieve this you have to set the applicable working planes correctly.

    Modeling the Roof. You can use the outline of the walls to create the roof, but you cannot use the walls themselves to create the roof because you changed the joining of the walls.
