Productivity is about producing more in the same time. When we talk about productivity in Vectorworks, that might be drawing quicker, and it might also be learning a new technique.
Datum. This technique is a function of the smart points constraint. It allows you to set a temporary datum (floating datum), then measure from this datum.
Snapping (Constraints). The constraints must be used if you want to snap to an object or use the smart points.
Linear Material Tool. This a useful tool for drawing your details. You can use it for any linear material like plywood, gib board and so on.
Repetitive Unit Tool. This is a great tool for placing repetitive objects like joists, purlins and weatherboards.
Select Connected Objects. If you have objects that touch each other, use this context menu command to select all the objects that touch.
Objects From Polyline. I think it is magic when I use this command. This command will turn your polygon, polyline or any closed object into another object.
Add Surface/Clip Surface. I use the add surface and clip surface a lot. If you want to make a complex shape the easiest way to do is to make some simple shapes using the rectangle and circle tool, then use the Add Surface or Clip Surface command.
Rotate Plan. When you have a plan that is not square on the page, use this tool to rotate the plan so that it becomes square on the page.
