This movie is about referencing Vectorworks files, and shows you how to reference files if you are using Vectorworks version 12.
An easy way to get started with referencing is to reference image files. You would do this if you wanted to carry on working with the project, but have somebody else update the image file.
A better way to set up referencing in Vectorworks 2008 and above, is to use the Design Layer Viewport. This allows you to reference information from other files, and move it to suit the current design layer.
Another example for layer and class mapping would be where you download building details from a suppplier’s web site. When you import these they always have classes you don’t want. There are several site where you can download CAD file details.
