Beginner – Some PDF files also carry vector information, which means that you can snap to the information. However, when you import a PDF file the Snap to Geometry is not active by default. Use the Object Info palette to activate that option.
Beginner – When you drag the selection marquee around objects, you can accidentally drag (and move) larger objects. Use the B Key to activate the X-Ray mode, it will stop you accidentally dragging objects.
Beginner – Before you start to make Massing Models, set the preferences. If you set the Preferences first, every Massing Model you make in this file will have the same settings, which will save you a lot of time correcting the massing models as you place them.
Beginner – You can’t always get your dimensions in the correct location the first time you place them, so you need to be able to move the dimension line to suit the drawing later. Use the Selection tool to relocate the dimension line.
Beginner – An easy way to import a PDF file is drag it and drop it onto Vectorworks from a Finder Window (or File Explorer window). Choose the pages that you want to import and click on the OK button.
Beginner – Holding down the B Key will make the fills on all objects transparent, allowing you to see through objects. This will allow you to select hidden objects.
Intermediate – When you create some objects, they are not automatically placed at the correct height relative to the site model. This command (Send to Surface) will change the elevation of the objects so that they sit correctly on the site model.
If you want to place a series of dimensions, its easier to use the second mode for the Dimension tool. This mode places a chain of dimensions (a series of dimensions joined together).
Intermediate – This mode is used to join two frames together. You might find that vertticla frames break hoizontal frames, but you can use this tool to combine the frames that are split.
In Vectorworks 2015 there is a change to the 3D viewing options.
