Apple Has Released New MacBook Pros : Updated
Apple has released new MacBook Pro computers with new integrated graphics. They look really powerful and you can read all about them here. The reports on the graphics are impressive as well, but which one is recommended for Vectorworks?
The recommendations from Vectorworks have not really changed since the release of Vectorworks 2013. Here is a quote from the Vectorworks knowledgebase
If you use OpenGL modeling, versions of Vectorworks 2014 and later contain significant OpenGL improvements that drastically improve the rendering of shadows and edges. These improvements are dedicated video RAM (VRAM) intensive, however, and require at least 512MB of dedicated VRAM, with 1GB being preferable.
If you look at the specifications of the new MacBook Pro’s you will see that only the top model has the dedicated graphics card with at least 512 MB of dedicated the RAM.

UPDATE:
Vectorworks have updated their recommendations:
Note: the new Intel “Iris” graphics line is also integrated but “Iris” provides acceptable performance with Vectorworks.

So if you are planning to purchase one of these new MacBook Pros, be careful. Make sure that you buy machine that does comply with the recommendations from Vectorworks. If you do not, you will be disappointed with your future use of Vectorworks.
