epodcast190 – Creating a Pivot Door

epodcast190A client asked me if it was possible to create a specific pivot door. If you have Windoor it is easy, there is a door type for that, but if you are using the Standard Vectorwoks door, you have to help it to create what you want.

    1. Thank you. It has been a while since I made an extended podcast, but it is the easiest way you explain how to do it.
      Keep your questions coming.

  1. Putting it into practice, this example is a simple extrude, so a solid door. I wanted glass, so I made a glass door, ungrouped it in 3D and used that panel for the door in the symbol. The main drawbacks are that you cannot add the extras after the fact, such as threshold or trim, so you basically have to make a unique symbol for each application. But thats a small price until VW actually adds this concept to their tool.

  2. Follow up:
Actually, when you edit the 3D portion, the cased opening plug-in is active, so you can adjust it to the specific application (wall thickness etc). Different situations would still require different symbols, I would imagine.

  3. Windoor is this an extra pludin available?
or regional depended vwx plugin for australia?
    thx
