Interactive Workshops October 2014 (1410) – What’s New in Vectorworks 2015

2014-10-15_14-04-40Every year Vectorworks gets updated and there are always lots of new features. But more than needing new features what we really need to know are the benefits of these new features. Features are nice, but benefits have a reward – they make Vectorworks easier to use, faster to use, more powerful.

As I did last year I have included a table with Needs/Features/Benefits. This table should assist you in finding your need, the feature associated with that need and what the benefit to you should be. Following on from that table is a detailed explanation of all the main features that are included in Vectorworks 2015.
Architectural – From an architectural point of view the main features are the introduction of more powerful stories, connecting wall components to these stories, changes to drawing walls and the introduction of a curtain wall drawing system.
Landmark – From a landscapers point of view the main features are the ability to see errors on your site model more quickly, the ease of creating new plants, the more sophisticated plant tagging, the improvements to the existing tree tool and the changes to the landscape area tool that automatically calculates the plants on a slope.
3D modelling – From a 3D modelling point of view the main features other changes to the 3D viewing, the increase in speed for OpenGL rendering, the ability to choose your default rendering and projection when changing from a Top/Plan view to a 3D view and the powerful Deform tool.
Everyone using Vectorworks is going to benefit from the completion of the 64-bit conversion of Vectorworks. Vectorworks can finally use all of the memory that your computer can access, meaning an end to those frustrating out of memory error messages and a reduction in the crashes due to a lack of memory.
